We have created a cool 3D Skull AR filter using Spark AR, which will be available on Facebook and Instagram. With this filter, when a person stands in front of the camera and opens their mouth, a skull face will appear, giving a spooky yet exciting effect. This project lets users have a unique and interactive experience with AR.

The Project
Stage 1
The project began with the idea of harnessing the Halloween spirit to create innovative 3D AR filters. Using Sketchfab, we acquired a 3D skull model, which served as the foundation for our AR filter.
Stage 2
We progressed by integrating a face tracker to attach the 3D skull to the user’s face. The patch editor allowed us to animate the jaw, making it move with the user’s mouth. Additionally, we made the filter more engaging by adding a background color that changes and darkens when the user opens their mouth, adding to the dramatic impact. This AR filter quickly became viral among users.
