Polaroid AR Filter

The Project

We created a fun AR filter called “Polaroid Effect” that makes your photos look like old Polaroid pictures. When you use this filter, a black frame appears around your photo, just like the classic Polaroid photos. Inside the black frame, a colorful border adds a playful touch to your pictures or videos. This combination makes your content look retro and cool, perfect for sharing on social media.

Stage 1

I choose to create the “Polaroid Effect” filter because I wanted to evoke feelings of nostalgia and bring a retro vibe to users’ photos and videos. The classic Polaroid style is timeless and adds a unique charm to any content. The inspiration came from the popularity of vintage aesthetics on social media and the desire to offer users a way to make their content stand out with a nostalgic touch. Used adobe photoshop and Canva to create my Polaroid AR filter assets.

Stage 2

At this stage of the project, we compiled all our assets. I decided to add LUTs (lookup textures) to quickly apply a black and white effect in the background. We also created some patches to make everything function smoothly.
