Project Description

So, here’s the deal – Alankari started off as a premium saree brand, and guess who got the chance to work on their website back in the day? Yup, we did! The first time around, we created a beautiful Shopify website for them that showcased their elegant sarees in all their glory. But phir kuch badla! Alankari decided to hit the refresh button and totally revamp their business. They shifted from sarees to a whole new world of women’s kurtas, kurtis, and dresses. Bhai, kabhi socha tha yeh twist aayega?

So, they came back to us at BabapInnak for a new website, and we were like, “Challenge accepted!” This time, we had to take everything that worked from the saree website and give it a new look, feel, and structure that made sense for their fresh collection. Agar kuch karna tha, toh ekdum best karna tha!

The Mission

What was the new mission, you ask? Well, it was a mix of old-school elegance and modern vibes, and here’s what we were after:

  • Give them a fresh look: Revamp the whole website to match their shift from sarees to kurtas and dresses – but keep that premium vibe intact, obviously.
  • Easy navigation: Add internal links and smooth navigation so customers can quickly browse through all the collections without feeling lost. Kyunki yeh toh hona hi chahiye, bhai!
  • Showcase the new collections: Introduce their new kurtas, dresses, and styles, along with details on fabrics and colors that’ll make customers go, “Bas, le lo, sab kuch!
  • Responsive on mobile: You know the drill – if the site doesn’t work on mobile, toh kuch nahi kiya!

We had to take their old website, jisme sarees ka swag tha, and blend it with the new direction they were taking. Not an easy task, but hey – koi kaam mushkil nahi!

Mera Kaam (My Role)

Toh, mera kaam in all this? Arre, sab kuch toh!
Here’s the lowdown on what I was up to:

  • Shopify setup (again!): Since we were already familiar with Alankari’s vibe from the saree site, the Shopify setup was a breeze. But this time, we needed to create something even more dynamic. Shopify ka master toh hum hai!
  • Designing the new look: Created a sleek, modern design that captured the essence of their new collection – keeping it classy but also fresh.
  • Internal links and collections: Added smooth internal links for easy navigation, and showcased their new collections by categories like color, fabric, and design. Material aur color ka proper description, bhai, customer ko details chahiye!
  • Mobile optimization: Agar mobile pe sahi nahi dikhayi diya, toh humne kya kiya? It had to be flawless everywhere.
  • Keeping it aligned with the brand: Alankari had a premium feel before, and we had to make sure that even with the change in products, the website still screamed “Luxury and style!”

Basically, I was all over the website like Ravindra Jadeja on the field – making sure everything worked just right.

Reflection Time

Looking back, I’d say this was one of those projects where you feel the stress, the excitement, and the “Haan, yeh kar sakte hain!” moments all at once.
Here’s what I took away:

  • Wireframes saved the day: Those prototypes we created earlier were a lifesaver. But of course, the final version always ends up being even better (obviously, the ‘polish’ factor comes in).
  • Balancing old with new: We had to make sure we kept some elements from the old saree site to maintain the brand’s identity, but it had to feel fresh, modern, and relevant. Yeh kuch naya hona chahiye tha, samjha na?
  • Details matter: Every little thing – from the internal links to the descriptions of each kurta, dress, and fabric – was important. Customers are smart, and if we want them to “Add to Cart”, we have to impress them.
  • Fun factor: Designing, tweaking, optimizing? It was fun! But yeah, there were those moments where I felt like I was playing a game of Tetris, trying to make sure everything fit perfectly.

Results

So, the final result? Ek dum bindaas!
Here’s how it turned out:

  • New collections shining: Alankari’s new range of kurtas, dresses, and kurtis is now fully showcased, with all the right details on fabrics, colors, and sizes. Customers ne kaha, “Yeh site toh kaafi trendy lag rahi hai!”
  • Navigation made easy: Internal links are making browsing a smooth experience, and everything is laid out perfectly so customers don’t feel like they’re stuck in a labyrinth.
  • Mobile-friendly design: The site’s responsive across all devices, which means more people are shopping, aur kisi ko bhi problem nahi ho rahi hai!
  • Traffic boost: Post-launch, Alankari’s site has seen an increase in traffic, and not just that – people are sticking around longer, browsing more, and kaafi cheezon ka cart mein daal rahe hain!

In the end, we took the saree website we created earlier and turned it into a powerhouse for their new collection. Alankari’s transition from sarees to kurtas has been seamless, and humne apna kaam mast kiya hai!

So, what do you think of this Clothing Ecommerce website portfolio? Mast hai na?
